Who are most qualified to do that job of getting the word out? Of course, it is YOU! YOU!! and YOU!!! - When each one of you tell 6 quilters, the world gets it!

You might ask "I am already telling everybody I know, why join the Affiliate?" You are right, in that case, there is no difference.

The difference by joining the Affiliate is your word-of-mouth will now be rewarded when your help to others turns into a sale from Thimblelady. Here is how and when:

Upon joining Thimblelady Affiliate, you will be given a unique ID. Inside your own affiliate account, you can pick your favourite product(s) you love and service(s) you have taken in banner or lightbox form if you have a blog or website; Or PDF printable forms to take to your group or shows when you are going to demonstrate or show/tell your tools or Thimblelady's new designs. Copy and paste it to your blog/website or print it out as you wish.

Recently, a British quilter demonstrated our regulators at her local show where everyone asked her where to get the regulators. Once you are an Affiliate, print out the PDF form and print it out with your ID. Then give it to those who are interested. When quilters sent the offline form in with your ID, your effort will be recorded and rewarded!

For quite some time, some English speaking teachers/quilters from non-English speaking countries have been helping their fellow students and quilters order our products on our website. Become Thimblelady’s Affiliate now, and get your own ID. Place our banners and light boxes with your ID on your blog and website in your own native languages. When a customer make a purchase through the link or simply help your customers make an order through the link on your blog and website, you get paid for this help!

Thimblelady Fabric Club members around the world, join Thimblelady Affiliate. Show your new Club fabrics to your fellow quilters – let them see and feel the quality and tell them about the low price and how our Club works. Inform them about the new sign-up by email, blog and newsletters, or hand out a PDF file with your ID. Help them to sign up. We need a lot more Club members to get the price further down to benefit quilters. Every two new Club members you help to recruit is a 10% discount on your already competitive Club membership. The more members we have, the lower the price for all members. Get started, tell every quilter about our Fabric Club.

Join us to do the right thing and the good thing even if you are not interested in the financial reward, or even if you have only one or two quilting friends. Who can join?
All our customers - Yes, that is the only entry requirement. We want quilters who use and know our products to be our marketers. To prevent misuse of the program, we won't approve of any marketers who do not enjoy our products. Our happy customers are the most qualified.

"Would my recommendation be less sincere if I accept Thimblelady's commission?"
My answer is a no. But your worry is legitimate - we all know or know of a few marketers lying through their teeth recommending inferior products to trusting customers. “Marketing” has become a rather dirty word in recent times. But this is not the fault of marketing. It is the bad deeds to blame.

I understand you don’t want to be mistaken as one of those. That is why I have thought about this technology long and hard. I have not taken it up lightly, knowing greed could generate many unintended consequences.

I’ve decided to employ this technology because we can't simply be intimidated out of good marketing. Good reputation is earned over time. It can only be built over good marketing, good products and excellent services. It is up to us to do the right thing and good thing to build our own good reputation.

Words are cheap. Trust can only be earned through good deeds and sound judgement. Continue to recommend good products and good services, your great recommendations will earn you a good reputation!

Marketing can be many forms too. It is not limited to tell people about something new. It could also be showing others how to use a tool well. Say, someone likes the quilt you made out of our design, but worries that she can’t make it without hands on help. If you can send her to get the step-by-step teaching video on our website, she will be able to make it too. It is solving a real problem that is valuable and you will be rewarded for that. That is why we believe our customers are the best to market our products.

What is the commission rate?
I have also thought long and hard on the right commission rate and a fair trading framework. I have set a commission of 5% on products and 10% on services. Why? I think it is most reasonable rate for all parties concerned, whether you are a customer or a marketer.

For that commission, all you need to do is to show and demonstrate our products and inform quilters around you. We'll take care of the rest: invent, design, manufacture, stock, store, pack and ship. We'll provide after sale service too.  

If a commission rate is high, customers may not be happy, therefore your recommendation becomes less powerful and will generate less sales if and when quilters tries to avoid you. Our customers always come first. Since our affiliates are our customers anyway, keeping the commission low does not create conflict of interests against our customers’. The most competitive price is the best selling point anyway.

Should I hide the fact that I am a Thimblelady’s Affiliate?My answer is NO. It can’t be hidden. The very reasonable commission rate itself is set so that you don’t need to hide it. If I were your friend or customer, I wouldn't mind you being rewarded for introducing me to a good product or service provided it is not a huge percentage. One marketing book said that people rarely remember the price of a product but the value: whether it is good or bad. I hope through the help of affiliates, we can increase the sales and further drop our price to make our price/quality the most competitive in the market. I believe, only when the best benefit of a product goes to your friends and customers shall your recommendation be truly valuable to them.

What if I am not so good at computers or marketing?
As long as you can email, and print, you are good enough. You can only be good at it once you know how. Just email me when you are stuck.
