Kits is our new page where you can find our kits with designs and matching materials unique to Thimbelady.
Creative not only in designs but also in instructions:
There are always many ways to learn one thing. Just like in cooking, you can learn how to cook better by focusing on the art of heat and difference in ingredients not only by matching their colours and flavors but also how they react to heat through making a dish. You can also follow a recipe to copy every step to the minute, and gram to reproduce a dish... I, myself, am never interested in learning that way. Even if I follow a recipe, being me, I would have totally overlook the numbers in "1 tsp" of salt or "50g" of butter - I'd prefer to season it to taste with salt and butter...
To my simple mind, how to make a bag is totally irrelevant to what size a bag is - that was why my old pattern instructions didn't contain measurements of the bag or a quilt. Anyway, some of you complained.
In 2011, let's learn in a flexible way, all new patterns and instructions will have measurements and will be written in the traditional way. Better still the most precise way which leaves no room for imagination if you prefer. Now welcome quilters Pat and Salwah to join Thimblelady as our pattern writers so you can learn the old ways.
I shall not change my way of designing and teaching as I want to provide an alternative view point to whoever wish to try my way. I shall continue to teaching through my videos ignoring measurements to focus on how everything is made. So between the dual ways of teaching, I hope you learn more and better and change painlessly.
Once you purchase a kit, pattern and written instructions will come with the kit. You can sign up for silver or gold video library to learn by videos and see what other techniques involved in other kits and projects too.
