As many of you already know that all products I recommend on this site and to my students are tested by the best of my ability. When it comes to battings, the only batting I use and can recommend to you with confidence is Hobbs Resin Bonded pure wool or polyester battings for best hand quilting. Its quality for hand quilting has no peer! Try it if you haven't already done so.

Why? In the plainest and simplest words, 1) it is all about how to put fibre together into a batting/wadding that is even thickness, soft loft without the fibre go lumpy or migrating through fabrics; 2) It is all about the density of the weave: it must be loose enough in the battin/wadding to add the amount of quilting threads your quilting design requires. Read my Quilting book to find out more about the scientific match of batting to designs and how to calculate the amount of quilting in any designs you choose.
